Recreational Access No Problem

The Walking Access Commission has recently published an information sheet, endorsed by Rural Women, Fish and Game, Federated Farmers and FMC for farmers to better understand the effect of the recent Health and Safety at Work legislation. Information Sheet
FMC Executive member David Barnes thinks this should solve the problems some clubs have been encountering, where farmers were uncertain of their responsibilities and therefore denying access rather than expose themselves to perceived liabilities. “It’s been a real shame to see the historic goodwill between farmers and trampers undermined because of misinformation about the law. Because the fact sheet has buy-in from farmers, it should go along way to resolving these issues”.
