Meet Our People
Our Executive Committee
FMC stands strong thanks to our dedicated volunteer Executive Committee and our many supporters. Each of our elected Executive Committee members brings unique skills and a shared love for the outdoors. They’re not just leaders in their areas of expertise—they’re avid backcountry explorers who live the values they stand for.
Meet our team below and find out who your local Executive Committee Member is.

Allan Brent
President, Wanaka
Allan is an avid outdoorsman who alpine climbs, paraglides, runs, and transalpine tramps. A dad, husband, and lawyer, he brings invaluable legal expertise to the team through his background in environmental and conservation law.
Allan joined the FMC Executive in 2020, serving as Vice-President for two previous Presidents before stepping up to President in 2026. His work has spanned commercial concessions, backcountry huts, and leading law reform across 15 outdoor organisations. He is focused on keeping FMC effective and sustainable as it approaches its centenary.

Liz Wightwick
Vice President, Christchurch
Liz is a passionate tramper; each year, she spends over 100 days away in the backcountry, and occasionally hunts game to feed the family.
Liz brings extensive experience in governance, funding, and strategic planning to the FMC Executive. Returning to the Executive in 2025, she is a tireless advocate for backcountry huts and tracks, with 11 years of voluntary maintenance work and over 100 days a year spent in the backcountry herself. She is focused on FMC’s recreational advocacy and the Love Our Huts campaign.

Megan Dimozantos
Executive Member, Rotorua
Based in Rotorua, Megan is a passionate tramper, mountain biker, packrafter, climber, and skier with a deep love for Aotearoa’s wild places. Having passed the presidency on in 2026, Megan remains a dedicated member of the FMC Executive.
She works for the Backcountry Trust as North Island Project Manager and has volunteered with Land Search and Rescue for over a decade, currently serving as Deputy Chair on the LandSAR NZ Board. She is deeply invested in protecting the backcountry hut and track network and ensuring public access to it for future generations.

Tony Walton

Tony has been a member of the FMC Executive since 2020, with a focus on the Northern region, the Membership committee, and keeping FMC’s constitution and bylaws up to date. A long-term member and former President of the Auckland Tramping Club, he is also a founding trustee of the Kaimai Ridgeway Trust, which coordinates track and hut maintenance in the Kaimai Ranges.
Tony regularly leads club trips and contributes to backcountry track maintenance, and has a particular interest in progressing the reopening of tracks in the Waitakere and Hunua regional parks.

Raymond has a background in environmental management and remains actively tramping and climbing in the backcountry.
He brings a broad understanding of the issues facing the outdoor community to the FMC Executive. Over the last two years, he has been working on the Love our Huts campaign. Raymond strongly believes that it’s important to support and give something back to the outdoor recreation community.

Graham Pomeroy
Executive Member, Nelson
Graham grew up farming in Bainham, Golden Bay, where his family property was an access point to Kahurangi National Park. Tramping has been part of his life since childhood.
Now in his third year on the FMC Executive, he brings strong governance experience and 47 years of Land Search and Rescue involvement. He has focused his FMC work on access issues, particularly in the Richmond Forest Park and Hira Forest.

A senior lawyer at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, he brings strong legal expertise and a deep understanding of government processes to the FMC Executive — skills he is keen to put to use in support of FMC’s work protecting and advocating for NZ’s wild places and public access.

Robin McNeill, MNZM
Executive Member, Invercargill
Robin is a longstanding member of the FMC Executive who brings valuable institutional knowledge and experience to the team.
A proud advocate for the outdoor recreation community, Robin believes FMC must always be a considered and respected voice that is listened to by those who matter and is committed to continuing that work into the future.

Peter’s love of the mountains includes tramping, rock climbing, and skiing, and he currently serves on the executive committee of the Upper Clutha Tramping Club.
His professional background includes engineering, training & events, and marketing, and he has also contributed as a writer and gear reviewer for international outdoor publications. Peter volunteers in native plant regeneration and track maintenance, and has been an active supporter of FMC’s Love Our Huts campaign, reflecting his strong commitment to the protection of, and access to, our precious backcountry.
If you are passionate about the outdoors, have relevant skills in planning and policy, law, governance, finance, communications or administration and would like to actively support our work by joining the FMC Executive Committee, contact one of our current members for a chat. Every two years in March, we invite applications from FMC member clubs and individual supporters.
