Hodder Hut fees and access

Marlborough Tramping Club owns and maintains the Hodder Huts, which see plenty of use for the popular climb of Tapuae-o-Uenuku and other peaks in the Inland Kaikoura Ranges.
Unfortunately the club has noticed a concerning lack of fee payment; over Labour weekend, both huts were full and only 3 people had paid!
From the 1st of November, to use the huts, you need to contact the club in advance to get a Hut Access number, which you then quote when asking permission from the land owners, Bev and Allan Pitts. The land owners have a great relationship with the club, and been extremely supportive of access for climbers and trampers over the years. This is not a booking system, and doesn’t guarantee a space in the hut, but it does help maintain the good will for access, by lessening the time the landowners need to spend on granting access. It also helps ensure the huts receive the funds to be maintained properly. Both vital outcomes if the community is to help preserve the opportunity to do this fantastic trip to such a wonderful area.
