Proposed Private Road Not Ok

FMC has submitted against a proposed new private road through Coromandel State Forest Park. The road, which is to access a pine plantation, and enable its more economical recovery, is inconsistent with the purposes for which the land is held as a specially protected area.
It is well past time that the fragmented, and formerly exploited, forests like the Coromandel, Kaimai and Pureora are held in at least the same regard as places like the Tararua, Kaimanawa and Craigeburn Forest Parks. They are even more special for being all that is left.
