We’re looking for a financial controller with the love for outdoors

FMC is on the lookout for a capable volunteer to help manage our finances. FMC finances are relatively simple and the time commitment averages around 2 hours per week. Typically you would also dial into relevant parts of the quarterly FMC executive meetings. The person will work with FMC’s part-time Administration Officer and full-time Executive Officer. Work is remote and can be done from anywhere in New Zealand.
The ideal person is a qualified accountant with an active interest in the outdoors. A small honorarium is paid and expenses are met for any required travel.
The role includes:
- overseeing the accounts and transactions
- short commentary for monthly accounts
- preparation of the annual financial statements and the annual budget
- payroll tasks for our 3 staff (1 fulltime, 2 part-time)
- support other FMC staff with accounting advice (eg, coding, GST)
- support the preparation of the Five Year Funding Plan
- other ad-hoc tasks
Daniel, our current Financial Controller, is stepping down after 7 years and will assist onboarding the new person.
This role is a good opportunity to use your professional skills to support a dynamic volunteer-led organisation advocating for outdoor recreation and conservation.
For more details contact in the first instance Stu Gray, stu.gray@fmc.org.nz, 021384240 or the current Financial Controller, Daniel Parkinson at daniel.parkinson@fmc.org.nz.
