FMC pack-rafting training scholarship recipients announced

FMC is pleased to announce the award of 15 pack-rafting training scholarships worth $300 each.

There were a pleasing number of quality applicants for the scholarships, and the recipients were chosen for their enthusiasm and interest in pack-rafting, their history of work with clubs and groups and of leading and training others in the outdoors.  The courses will be run by Packrafting NZ this summer and will cover the basic aspects of pack-rafting skill and safety on and around the water.

The recipients are;

Jamie McAulay, Otago Uni TC
Anne Christine Taylor, Southland TC
Sam Harrison, Otago Uni TC
Sam Newton, NZAC
Penzy Dinsdale, Otago Uni TC
Craig Smith, NZAC
Martin Peat, NZAC
Anna Luo, Auckland Uni TC
Nicole Ranger, PRANZ
Chris Abel, NZAC
Kerri-Anne Edge Hill, FMC individual supporter
Timothy Hargrave,  NZAC
Aimee Smith, FMC individual supporter/PRANZ
Carl Brett, PRANZ / OTNZ
Clare Fryer, Canterbury Uni TC

FMC is glad to see this initiative progressing, to provide a tangible boost in the knowledge of pack-rafting safety within the outdoor community. We look forward to hearing back from the recipients about their training and future trips, so we can share these insights and adventures widely.  FMC is also pleased to see the Packrafting Association of NZ developing. As a member club of FMC, PRANZ members add their support to FMC,  and in turn, allow us to advocate for issues which effect pack-rafting opportunities in NZ.
