FMC to launch Remarkable Outdoors campaign

Federated Mountain Clubs will be launching our ‘Remarkable Outdoors’ Campaign on Friday the 16th of June in Wellington. The campaign is designed to increase the prominence of outdoor issues during the 2017 General Election. Everyone with an interest in outdoors politics and policy is invited to join our outdoors community for this fun and social gathering at the Southern Cross, on Abel Smith street, from 5.30pm. The details of the campaign will be revealed on the night.

Following significant changes and extensive consultation on the Winstone Pulp application to discharge waste into Whangaehu River, FMC has lodged a neutral submission.
FMC has lodged its submission on the National Conservation Policy Statement (NCPS), which is enabled through the Conservation Amendment Bill and will guide all the area planning over public conservation land.
Since we collated a list of closed tracks and huts earlier this year, we’ve had very positive meetings with the Department of Conservation about the issues involved.
