Outdoor Access Champion award for Jan Finlayson
Jan Finlayson is FMC’s immediate past president and the force behind our Same as SH1 campaign. Her outdoor access advocacy spans over a decade, starting in earnest as a member of the Canterbury Aoraki Conservation Board in 2011.
On 16 September 2022, Herenga ā Nuku Aotearoa, the Outdoor Access Commission recognised Jan with an Outdoor Access Champion award for her significant and lasting contributions to outdoor public access in New Zealand.
Herenga ā Nuku chief executive Ric Cullinane emphasises Jan’s impact as a leader in the outdoor community over the last decade. “She has fiercely defended the public’s right to access conservation land – including the protection of wild lands”.
Congratulations Jan! A well deserved recognition.
