Routeburn shelter challenged

FMC has submitted against the proposed location of a lakeside lunch shelter for the exclusive use of guided walkers on the Routeburn track. While seeing the need for a shelter, the proposal shelter willl take over a lakeside clearing adjacent to the existing hut and affect the experience of people using the clearing for picnicing or swimming. A shelter is appropriate, but clearly not at this site. FMC’s full submission can be found at the link following, and FMC encourages others to submit in a similar vein: FMC Submission , Further Information and Opportunity to Submit
