Backcountry Partnership Focus of FMC AGM 2015

FMC will be holding its Annual General Meeting on the 13th of June this year in Christchurch. The programme can be found here: FMC AGM 2015 Flyer
While the focus of the day is on the Backcountry partnership that is our unique hut and track network, there will be some wider discussion headlined by presentations from FMC President, Robin McNeill, DOC Director-General, Lou Sanson and Wilderness writer and designer, Mick Abbott. Expect some interesting viewpoints on what the priorities are for conservation and recreation in New Zealand. A very interesting radio interview with Mick Abbott is available here.
The Backcountry partnership discussion will include presentations from volunteer projects from right around the country including the Coromandel, Kaimai, Ruahine, Tararua, Kahurangi, Arthurs Pass and West Coast. Experienced outdoors people including Geoff Spearpoint, Andrew Buglass, John Taylor and Derrick Field will speak to the lessons they have learnt through involvement in hut and track maintenance.
