Previous Travel Club trips to Britain have visited mountain areas such as the Lake District, Scotland and Wales. This trip explores Cornwall, Devon & Somerset, plus Dartmoor, Exmoor & the chalk uplands of Dorset & Sussex. The land is hilly rather than mountainous, but has some of the best scenery in England. Some walks traverse rugged coastlines with descents into small coastal villages with miniature harbours. The two moors offer expansive hill walking across open moorlands & rocky tors with historical & literary connections. The chalk hills of south east England are where British civilisation began several millennia ago. The landscape, culture & history changes subtly as we move west to east. This is quality walking & a broad cultural experience of England.
