Turkey

The bridge between east and west

Dates : 8th May to 8th June 2008
Duration : 32 Days
Price : $5995 ex. Istanbul
Leader : John Dobbs

At once ancient and modern, west and east, part Europe and part Asia – Turkey is a fascinating melding of history, culture and scenic beauty. This springtime exploration covers the best of western and central Turkey. From timeless Istanbul, we visit Gallipoli and head down the Mediterranean coast to Troy, Ephesus and many other ancient Greco-Roman sites. Then a week along the Lycian Way trekking through the mountains and villages of this beautiful region. The fantastically eroded landscapes of Cappadocia are surreal and also make for great trekking. Moving into the high valleys and pastures of the Taurus Mountains. Our trekking here involves camping at up to 3000m elevation. The nomads here have a way of life unchanged for centuries. See the sunrise fro T. Nemrut and explore more ancient towns before returning to Istanbul.
A comprehensive itinerary with a huge variety of experiences plus the best trekking available. A perfect trip for the first time visitor to Turkey.
This trip would also be ideal within a larger holiday to Europe or the Middle East.
