Consulting On ...Recreation and Conservation Advocacy (Representing our members) ![]() |
What we're up to and how you can contributeAt a most basic level, FMC is a group of dedicated trampers and climbers who try to make things better for our recreation. This volunteer status is a strength. Politicians and officials appreciate that we volunteer time and effort to our cause and see us as closer to the community than professional lobbyists. Recreation and conservation advocacy is a core activity handled by geographically based sub-committees aligned with DoC's regions. The sub-committees provide views on management plan reviews, concession applications and other issues impacting on recreation and natural values of the lands we use. This year will be another busy one dealing with many issues. Submission to the Walking Access Consultation Panel. Submission - Hokitika Gorge Scenic Reserve Not all issues come to the notice of the executive. For example we may not see public notices in local papers. FMC relies on members to draw attention to matters they think we as a federation should know about or act on. Please contact the FMC secretary and the information will be passed on to the relevant executive member. Nov 2006 HvN |
